Thanksgiving Holiday Event Guide: November 26th - December 1st

Thanksgiving Day - Thursday, November 28th
Parade kicks off at 8:15 am from 20th & JFK in Philadelphia
Broadcast on 6abc: 8:30 am until 12 pm
 
The 6abc Dunkin' Thanksgiving Day Parade has something for everyone!  Featuring 23 marching bands from across the nation, 15 balloons, 16 floats, 30 performances, as well as fan favorites from music, stage, and screen right here in Philadelphia - now in its 99th year, it has become a true Philadelphia tradition!
 
PARADE ROUTE
* Begins at 20th and JFK Boulevard
* Proceeds east on JFK to 16th Street
* Turns left on 16th Street to the Ben Franklin Parkway
* The parade continues northwest along the Ben Franklin Parkway
* Ends at the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art

Visitors of all ages will be wowed by a quarter-mile of track featuring seven loops and tunnels with fifteen different rail lines and two cable cars, nine bridges (including a trestle bridge you can walk under), and bustling model trains, all set in the lovely winter garden of the Morris Arboretum.
 
Don't miss the Holiday Garden Railway Nights  (Timed Ticketed Event)
 
The dates are Fridays, December 20 & 27, and Saturdays, December 7, 14, 21 & 28, and Sundays, December 15, 22 & 29. The event runs from 4:30 to 7:30 pm.

Friday, November 29th
First Presbyterian Church of Ambler
 
Join them at 5 pm for the annual holiday tree lighting on the front lawn at First Presbyterian Church of Ambler PA. The Wissahickon Middle School choir will be there to sing holiday tunes as we usher in the holiday season in Ambler.

Macy’s, 1300 Market Street, Philadelphia
Free Admission
 
Come to the famous Center City store to watch the Macy’s Christmas Light Show with more than 100,000 bright, energy-efficient LED lights combining to create a spectacular show.  A Philadelphia holiday tradition since 1956.  For shows starting at noon, the finale of the light show is accompanied by live festive music from the world-renowned Wanamaker Grand Organ.

Join the for the 105th Annual Tree Lighting. Music performances start at 5 pm with Santa arriving via fire truck at 6:30 pm to light the tree!  He will be available in his cottage at State & Hamilton for all the children to see afterwards. Look for the strolling carolers, holiday characters and more!
 
Discover Doylestown’s Winterfest is supported by the Borough of Doylestown, the Doylestown Fire Department, and their sponsors.
 
Don't miss the Doylestown Dreidel open all season!  Thanks to the generous support of Discover Doylestown, the dreidel was rebuilt in 2018 by the McBrick Building Group. The dreidel is proudly displayed at the Hamiton Street Parking Lot all season.

Luminaries line the sidewalks outside the stores and restaurants to light the way for shoppers and diners and to warmly welcome the start of the holiday season. Many of the shops and restaurants throughout the Village will be offering special treats and refreshments, activities, in-store sales, and other surprises for shoppers.   Participating shops are open until 9 pm for evening shopping.
 
Tree lighting festivities begin at 6 pm in the Floral and Hardy Complex. Don't miss this annual tradition in Skippack Village!

Downtown Ambler
 
Stroll to downtown Ambler Saturday, November 30th to celebrate everything this small town has to offer! Their businesses and restaurants will all be open with specials for the small business shopper. Celebrate the season in downtown Ambler and #shopsmall. Enjoy a special shoppers respite complete with hot chocolate and cookies from Sleigh.  The Ambler Station Singers - Ambler's premiere choral group - will be performing a free concert for Small Business Saturday.

Ticket prices are $20 for adults, $5 for children and can be purchased at the door.
 
The Ambler Choral Society opens its 40th season with a Concert entitled “Prelude to the Holidays” on Sunday, December 1st at 3:00 pm in Supplee Presbyterian Church, 855 East Welsh Road, Maple Glen, PA.  Artistic Director, Mark Daugherty, will conduct a program of choral classics beginning with Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on Christmas Carols, a snazzy arrangement of In Dulci Jubilo, Somewhere in my Memory from the movie, Home Alone, and an assortment of holiday favorites.  There will be a congregational sing-along with carols and The Hallelujah Chorus. A dessert reception follows the performance.
